PACT Housekeeping Meetings

We started by going over last weeks’ talk, this week we were joined by Beryl who we hadn’t seen in a long time! After everyone was up to speed we talked about what we’ve been up to this week. Firstly, we covered the new PACT landing page on the website which is now live - Dan was having trouble with the website on certain browsers, so we’re looking into that. Because we’re planning on sending out the resources to new people via this link. If they can’t see it, or there are bugs we risk looking unprofessional - something Sav said has been the reason why this drawing took a bit longer to get ready for send-out.
Potential surveyors Ryan and Joe now have this resource as of today (25th June) and we are awaiting quotes. Dan then gave us the challenge of getting these quotes in and having a planning application finished by the time he returns in 3 weeks. We will use this now as our goal - which we agreed was a good amount of time because of a few reasons: We already have most of the work showing the accurate model of the existing house and garden from the previous Stages 0-1, we will be waiting for people to get back to us with quotes, and then the surveys will be undertaken (which will also take some time) and finally - we have all the resources to be able to create a successful planning application. We agreed that, while plans for the Bridge and extension may change, it would be favourable to get an ‘umbrella’ plan into the council ASAP as it also introduces another 2 month+ wait, during which time we can make design decisions relating to the interior refurbishment.
We had questions about our estimates for getting on site and building, which we found hard to answer. This is because the design is totally dependent on the new survey results, and the built and delivered project is reliant on the designs being correct, sub contractors and construction team all working together (harmoniously!) which all takes a lot of planning. We explained this construction timeline via the RIBA stages concept, and we’ve included this for further reading below for those unfamiliar.

Decisions made:
- Planning Application ‘bones’ or - template - is to be made while awaiting quotes and results of survey. It is to include all of our biggest ideas to maximise our permissions later on in the project. (It’s easier to scale down, than scale up.)
