PACT Housekeeping Meetings

Just Sav and Dan on the call this week, we talked about the Eastwood report that we got back, as well as some ideal design changes that take the report findings into account.

Firstly, the report is very in-depth and detailed, providing some excellent sketches and advice for our main contractors when the time for construction comes. I was very happy to finally have the info required to move forward with the designs - especially as, both me and Dan agreed, there were no major risks or safety issues with the house or our staircase idea that were identified.
This is good news, as we can continue ahead as planned, without any major redesigns.
There are a few new considerations to the design, which are challenging but exciting. We talked about our personal opinions on the junction between the kitchen and the cellar staircase, discussing the old doorway and whether it could be opened. Now while the flight of the new staircase won’t allow this, a window or opening could provide a ‘psychological’ flow, providing access to the new areas through sightlines, as well as introducing more light into the kitchen. I then introduced the ideas we have been playing with around the inclusion of the South living room into the bridge, and wider openings to reduce the effect of awkward angles in the original design. These ideas, as well as others Dan and I talked through today are now going to be developed through the week to find the best solutions.
Finally, we discussed the next stages which is going back to Horbury for QS after we submit for planning, and then organising a budget meeting afterwards which we will be sitting in on.
