PACT Housekeeping Meetings
Thursday 10th September 2026
The biggest news this week was that we have clicked submit on our planning application (!), so now we start the waiting game of the validation process.
While this is in the hands of the Sheffield planning office, we are talking to Horbury to book in a date to meet and share our drawings, as well as discuss the QS side of things. We aim for this meeting to tie into our Thursday meetings, but they have their charity sports day next Thursday, and Nell may not be available the following week, so if need be this might have to just be a precursory SKiNT-Horbury meeting if it means we can chat with them sooner, and we can then book in for them to join us on a Thursday following this.
Lucy and Liz had an idea that they shared, where we could host an open morning at the house. This is an exciting thought and it would be really great to open the doors and get people involved in the project, sharing our plans and building some excitement. As this develops it would be good to consider who might come along and how we can engage them, as this could be a perfect time to build some publicity, as well as work on fundraising.
We also talked about how Candlelighters, Leeds are currently renovating. Sav and Nell are keen to get in touch with them and talk about the research they have and how this influences their conceptual and design processes.
All this talk of publicity then led on to social media. Now is a good time for PACT to be thinking about this; what will it look like, how can we build awareness, and who can help us. It’s worth reaching out to Hallam, as it seems we have a lot of ties to the uni, as well as getting a press release together that we can share with local news outlets.
We are in a strong position at the moment, and we’re all excited to be thinking about the next stages and we have plenty to keep ourselves busy with while we’re in planning!
